Animal Balance Volunteer Teams
Animal Balance works with the CIMEI (Municipality), Galapagos National
Park Service,  Charles Darwin Station, WildAid, Sea Shepherd Conservation
Society, SEGAL, SESA, The Police, CEA and the local community to sterilize
the cats and dog on Santa Cruz, San Cristobal and Isabela Islands.

The Galapagos Islands are home to incredible animals such as blue footed
boobies, white finned sharks, penguins, flamingos, giant tortoises, marine
iguanas AND cats and dogs.

Together we are working to ensure that the cat and dog populations are
humanely controlled so that the delicate native species can survive and the
people and agencies have the tools they need to continue to humanely
manage the populations in the future.

Since 2004, together with our partners, we have sterilize 96% of the cats
and dogs that live in the municipal areas of the islands. We have; trained
the Ecuadorian vets in spay and neuter techniques, outfitted 3 animal
clinics, distributed free collars and leashes to everyone that brought their
dog to be sterilized, held dog training classes to help people take
responsibility for their pets, visited schools teaching a humane education
module, held fun community events and empowered the Municipality to
manage the project in the future.
